In the implementation of this unit students are given the opportunity to learn in a variety of ways through:

  • collaboration, class discussion, listening and presentations
  • online environments
  • active learning, drawing storyboards and editing software
  • watching film
  • written assessment
  • creativity and emergent spaces
  • leadership and reflection.

Group or collaborative learning has been found to generate many positive learning outcomes including achievement, retention, motivation, moral reasoning, social and cognitive development, valuing differences, retention of knowledge, and the reduction of prejudice (Johnson et al., 2000).
