This is a unit of work created for Year 11 Art class as a collaboration between the students,
myself, another pre-service teacher and our mentor. The end goal was to enter a group submission into the George Paton Gallery ‘Poetry’ exhibition call out. By interpreting the entry requirements with the students and contemplating what comprises ‘visual poetry’, researching artists and exploring techniques, we settled on creating our own sheets of paper. This paper was embedded with the poetry of observations from journals and found objects from the nearby park which we explored on a cold and wet Monday morning – ideal conditions for melancholic poetry.
